TeamRICOCHET Strengthens Hardware Bans, Commits to Weekly Anti-Cheat Updates Through MW4 Season 1

Call of Duty's #TeamRICOCHET blocked 70,000+ cheating systems in a week with stronger hardware bans across Black Ops 7 and Warzone — and promised weekly anti-cheat updates through Modern Warfare 4 Season 1.

Call of Duty has published a new update from #TeamRICOCHET, confirming stronger hardware bans and a commitment to weekly RICOCHET Anti-Cheat updates from now through Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4.

In the first of what Activision frames as a regular transparency cadence, the team says recent hardware-enforcement improvements helped block more than 70,000 systems tied to cheating across Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Call of Duty: Warzone over the past week.

TeamRICOCHET Commitment to Fair Play update announcing weekly anti-cheat reports through Modern Warfare 4 Season 1

Commitment to Fair Play

The update opens with a clear stance on competitive integrity: Call of Duty is built for competition and fun, and winning should come down to mastery, teamwork, and creating moments — not downloading cheats.

From now through Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4, Activision says it will share weekly updates covering new detections, enforcement actions, and the work #TeamRICOCHET is doing to make Call of Duty a harder place to cheat.

Hardware Bans Just Got Stronger

This week's focus is hardware enforcement. RICOCHET has long used hardware identifiers to identify and act against cheaters. The team says it is now taking that enforcement further.

According to the official graphics shared by @CallofDuty:

  • 70,000+ new system bans issued
  • Those systems are locked out of Call of Duty
  • Enforcement spans Black Ops 7 and Warzone

Activision's warning is blunt: "If you cheat, returning to Call of Duty just became significantly harder."

New Account? Nice Try.

Official graphic explaining that hardware bans target the machine, not just the account

A key part of the update is how hardware bans change the math for repeat offenders. The bans target the machine, not just the account:

  • Making a new account will not get that system back in
  • The easiest way for repeat cheaters to return has been disrupted

Not Done — Weekly Updates Through MW4 Season 1

TeamRICOCHET says hardware bans will continue rolling out across PC and console, with detection and enforcement expected to keep getting stronger. Weekly RICOCHET Anti-Cheat updates are planned to continue through Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4.

"This is the first update. We'll be back next week with more," the team wrote.

What This Means for MW4 Players

For the legitimate player base heading into the Modern Warfare 4 beta and the October 23 launch, the message is that anti-cheat transparency is becoming a weekly habit — not a one-off blog post. Hardware-level enforcement also raises the cost of cheating before MW4 Season 1 brings Warzone and Multiplayer into the same seasonal cycle.

We'll cover each weekly TeamRICOCHET drop as it lands.
