Choosing the right gun in Call of Duty has always been crucial, as every weapon comes with its own unique set of advantages and disadvantages. Selecting the wrong gun will immediately put you at a disadvantage on the playing field, no matter how skilled a player you might be. Thankfully, we have invested well over 20 hours in the MW4 beta and tested a range of weapons to help determine just which are the very best, so you don't have to.

This guide details the top three meta guns you can use in CoD MW4 that will help you wreak havoc against your opponents.

Best Meta Guns in MW4 Beta Ranked

Wanting to learn more about a particular ranking? Click the links below to jump to:

#1 - M4 (Assault Rifle)

#2 - ISO Nightshade (Submachine Gun)

#3 - Oris 8.6 (Marksman Rifle)

#1 - M4 (Assault Rifle)

The M4 Assault Rifle is without a doubt the best weapon in the MW4 Beta. Not only is the M4 powerful, but it also performs well in almost any situation, whether you're up against the ISO Nightshade in close quarters or long range against a Sniper or Marksman Rifle.

With the right attachments, you can improve the M4's Range, Mobility, and Handling, giving it an edge against long-range opponents while remaining quick enough to challenge even the best players running the ISO Nightshade in close quarters. The M4 is an incredibly versatile weapon that, in the right hands, can rack up some significant killstreaks on the battlefield.

See our Best M4 Loadout and Build for more details.

#2 - ISO Nightshade (Submachine Gun)

Despite some early nerfs, the ISO Nightshade still holds strong against nearly every other weapon, which is just one of the reasons why it's our pick for the second best gun in MW4. While it's just short of the M4 in terms of performance, the ISO Nightshade is an aggressive player's dream. It offers an incredibly fast fire rate, exceptional Mobility and Handling, and manageable recoil at mid-to-close range.

With the right attachments, the ISO Nightshade can challenge the M4 in range, but hitting long-distance targets will require a bit of a steady hand, as its recoil becomes quite noticeable at long range - thankfully, MW4's beta doesn't feature too many maps with super long sight lines.

If you're not a fan of the M4 or simply want something with a slightly faster TTK for maps like Transit 213, we wouldn't look past the ISO Nightshade.

See our Best ISO Nightshade Loadout and Build for more details.

#3 - Oris 8.6 (Marksman Rifle)

If you're looking for something with a bit more mid-to-long range, the Oris 8.6 is our top pick. Not only is it fun and satisfying to use, but it's also a beast once you nail the art of quick scoping. Like most Marksman Rifles, the Oris 8.6 packs a real punch. While it's not quite sniper power, it can easily one or two-shot enemies from any distance as long as your shots hit from chest up - attaching a Long Barrel can also help increase your range.

Out of the box, the Oris 8.6 is already well balanced. For a large weapon, it handles well and offers impressive mobility, which allows it to hold its own when you're face-to-face in close-quarters with the ISO Nightshade and M4.

Now, the downside is that the Oris 8.6 isn't the most recoil-friendly weapon. However, since it is typically best suited for quick scoping or close-range hip-firing, we haven't really noticed any real impact on our performance. In fact, we've even opted for lower accuracy in favor of improved handling and mobility.
