Overview[]
DMZ features several locations called Exclusion Zones featuring different factions as the main enemy force, known as Agents. Large scale maps support up to 60 players whereas smaller maps support up to 12 players. Players are able to safely extract their Operators and their inventories from the play area by interacting with an Exfil site, which are designated by smoke grenades in outdoors maps or elevators in maps set inside. Among the various Agents that can be encountered in the different Exclusion Zones, several of them appear as unique and more powerful enemies called Bosses or Commanders. Eliminating Commanders will reward the player with various weapons, equipment and the Weapon Case.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II[]

DMZ was originally released as part of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on November 16th, 2022, albeit tied to the Modern Warfare II files. On July 29th, 2025, DMZ fully integrated into Modern Warfare II as the game became a standalone title after its removal from the Call of Duty HQ launcher.

DMZ returns in Call of Duty: Mobile where it is known as DMZ: Recon, that was added on December 11th, 2025 as part of the Season 11: 6th Anniversary update.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4[]

DMZ is set to return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 available at launch functioning like its predecessors. It will take place on the Exclusion Zone, Hajin at the North and South Korean Peninsula bordering Russia.
